Everyday Life

Great question from a friend today:

What do you think of the phrase “everyday life?” Is it redundant?

My reply?

Unfortunately, no, it’s not redundant. It should be though. At the very least, it shouldn’t be ironic.

“I’ve had this feeling…This kind of compulsion that I have to be rude all the time…It’s like I was playing some kind of game, but the rules don’t make any sense to me. They’re being made up by all the wrong people. I mean no one makes them up. They seem to make themselves up.”

- Benjamin Braddock from The Graduate

“Do not internalize the industrial model. You are not one of the myriad of interchangeable pieces, but a unique human being, and if you’ve got something to say, say it, and think well of yourself while you’re learning to say it better.”

- David Mamet (by way of Seth Godin)

Barefoot driver.
